The ‘National Safety Day/ Safety Week Campaign’ being spearheaded by the National Safety Council for nearly three decades to mark its Foundation Day (4th of March), which has significantly contributed in the reduction of the rate of industrial accidents by creating a widespread safety awareness. The campaign is comprehensive, general and flexible with an appeal to the participating organizations to develop specific activities as per the safety requirements.
Safety at workplace for all has always been the prime focus at Kandla International Container Terminal. The 47th National Safety Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at KICT. Through the week-long campaign celebration, safety was largely promoted with the utilization of the participative approach by promoting awareness related to safety among the employees. To mark the occasion on the last day of the week, a valedictory event was organized. A safety pledge was administered in Hindi and English to renew the commitment of the employees towards safety, followed by playing safety anthem.
Mr. Amardeep Singh Parmar (Terminal Head) and Mr. Samir Pandey (Assistant Director Dock Safety, Government Of India- GOI) addressed the gathering with a motivation stirring safety speech, emphasizing the roles and responsibilities of each and every employee towards safety. Certificates were distributed to all the winners who participated in the Safety Quiz, Rangoli Competition, Safety Slogan Competition, Best Safety Conscious Employee and Workmen. KICT congratulates all the employees and contractor workmen who had participated in the competitions for making the Safety Week Campaign at KICT an encouraging experience.
